30 November 2024: T-Giving, book, and finals.
I'm a lazy bastard, what can I say.
Thanksgiving was nice. I was able to show my parents my new car, it's a 2013 Jetta SE. I am happy that I got a 2.5 I5 with 5 speed manual, apparently they are very reliable. I've replaced a bulb, gas cap, cam sensor, shift cables, and my father gifted me a radio with front and rear cameras. Very cool! All it needs now is a new headliner and some clear coat fixes...
As for the actual holiday, all I wanted was to see my parents and eat green been casserole. I got all that I wanted, and then some. They've decided to no longer make turkey, thank G-d. Turkey is a real b**** to cook, and often leads to frustration and raw spots no matter what method is used. Maybe we are all just retarded, but the beef shanks were MUCH better than turkey (and pair surprisingly well with my favorite canned cran-sauce). The green bean casserole was off the hook, my mother knows the perfect ratio of those fried tan pieces to green bean. I couldn't be happier, and look forward to seeing them this coming Christmas, or perhaps sooner.
The book is done! I was agonizing over editting, revising, and no matter what I did with it or how I rewrote the ending, I was never happy. It was meant to be a way for people to get to know the light of my life. But, I didn't really do her any justice. Maybe that's why. But who wants to read a 200 page obsessive ramble about how wonderful and adorable so and so is? At least what I've written has a theme and plot.
I confided in my father about the situation, how the price for "editorial feedback" was downright extortion on some platforms, how no one had given me any helpful feedback lately, how it was never "quite right." He made some reccomendations, but I must not have seemed all too receptive. I say that because he requested, as a gift this year, that I just self-publish it as-is under a pseudonym and get feedback that way. I've editted and revised most of it, and done basic editting to the ending. It's done though, it is set for ebook availability on the 3rd of December, 2024. Hopefully amazon kindle store and print copies are available by Christmas of 2024.
Besides that, finals are all I've got going on. Those will be a slog, I might end up with a B or two this semester due to a relapse a few months ago. It is what it is though, and luckily I am not taking any critical tracking courses until Spring of 2025.
I did finally manage to get the sales tax certificate and BP number for my LLC, so I can hunt on auction sites as an official resale business exempt from state sales tax! Hooray!
It's getting late, and I have one last essay to write for philosophy before I am temporarily free from the academic grind. I'm excited to eventually get a good cold open to this new book idea... It's about ghosts, space, and the nature of existence. There are so many cool concepts to play with and things to tink of.
